The Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority (CHESLA) announced an update to its scholarship program commencing with the 2019-2020 academic year. The program will include a focus on health and manufacturing certificate programs.

High school students are invited to attend the third annual Student Manufacturing Connection Fair on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. This opportunity connects future innovators with Connecticut-based manufacturers so they can learn more about the industry. Do you have an innovator in your family?

I have heard from many people in the district regarding the Governor’s budget proposal. Please continue to send your comments my way, but also know that you can submit testimony, either in person or via email, on any aspect of the budget.

There will be several opportunities for constituents to meet with State Senators and Representatives in the upcoming weeks.

Wednesday, February 13, Rep. Kerry Wood testified with Newington Rep. Gary Turco and Mayor Roy Zartarian regarding HB 7098 in front of the Transportation Committee to discuss a new train station in the Town of Newington and the positive economic and environmental impacts to the community. 

During his inauguration ceremony, Governor Ned Lamont announced his plan to update Connecticut's transportation infrastructure and bring rapid rail transit to the state.

Representative Kerry Wood (D- Newington, Rocky Hill, Wethersfield) was sworn in to her first term in the Connecticut House of Representatives.
