Today I held a Unity Rally at City Hall to advocate for New Haven to become an official sanctuary city for undocumented immigrants.

Rep. Candelaria was recognized as a 2016 Children's Champion by the members of the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance for his leadership on issues related to Connecticut's young children and his focus on critical early childhood education.

I am disappointed the United Illuminating Co. is considering a rate hike that will affect customers in the New Haven and Bridgeport areas. A public hearing will be held in New Haven on September 12 at 6:30 pm at the Kennedy Mitchell Hall of Records, Hearing Room G2, 200 Orange Street.

Legislation I championed eliminating the taxing of feminine hygiene products was adopted in Senate Bill #502. The measure was adopted in the 2016 Legislative Session and includes the elimination of taxes on all feminine hygiene products as well as baby diapers.

I hosted an Informational Hearing at the Legislative Office Building to start a public conversation about the legalization of marijuana for recreational use.
