$16 Million for Special Education Services

This week, more than $16 million in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief II (ESSER II) funds was made available to 170 school districts across Connecticut. This relief money will allow schools throughout our state to provide special education services to more than 80,000 students during the upcoming school year.

SB 1 Passes the House!

Yesterday, the House sent a powerful piece of legislation to the Governor’s desk. S.B. 1 declares that racism is a public health crisis in our state.

Earlier this year, the CDC issued a statement which declared, in part, that “racism, both structural and interpersonal, are fundamental causes of health inequities, health disparities and disease.”

Clean Slate legislation heads to the governor

Today we passed legislation to address the social and economic disparities experienced by individuals with criminal records and those who were formerly incarcerated. 
 
Known as the Clean Slate Bill, SB 1019 is groundbreaking legislation that will help thousands of formerly incarcerated citizens in Connecticut by clearing their records and paving the way for re-entry to society with access to good paying jobs, education, and quality housing.
