Very soon, there will be changes for some of our most vulnerable individuals and families who are on Medicaid. Starting on April 1, the COVID-19 public health emergency protection will be coming to an end. Medicaid enrollees who were continuously covered will again have to provide proof of eligibility to continue getting benefits.

I was was joined by the Diaper Bank of Connecticut, the Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA), and Nurturing Families Network at Day Kimball Healthcare, to advocate in support of legislation that seeks to provide Medicaid coverage for diapers to help struggling families obtain basic necessities to care for babies and young children.

Leadership of Human Services Committee and Aging Committee held a press conference ahead of a joint public hearing in favor of several bills supporting nursing home workers and residents. Advocates from SEIU 1199 and AARP, Connecticut’s Long-term Care Ombudsperson and a representative from the Attorney General's Office made remarks.

As we progress steadily through the current session, it is important that we continue to build upon past legislative successes that have allowed Connecticut to keep moving forward. We also invested in special education and lunches in schools.

As Chair of the Endometriosis Working Group, I was pleased to join with members in a press conference to discuss the Working Group and announce the release of our 2023 Policy Priorities.

To diversify the insurance broker community in our state, Access Health CT has established the Broker Academy Program to create a pathway for newly licensed insurance brokers by recruiting from and building the skillset of those who live and work in underserved communities throughout Connecticut.
