In almost half a year, more than 200 mass shootings have occurred in the United States. It is unthinkable that our country and communities continue to mourn the loss of innocent lives - children, elderly, worshippers, shoppers at supermarkets and malls - to senseless mass shootings.

Applications for the Child Tax Payments that was included as part of a historic $600 million in tax cuts in our 2022 state budget will open June 1, 2022.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) is utilizing numerous options to assist families across the state access baby formula during the nationwide shortage. The formula shortage started last fall due to supply chain issues resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. It was exacerbated in February when Abbott recalled powdered formula manufactured in its Michigan plant and temporarily shuttered it. 

In the past year, my office has helped nearly 100 residents with a variety of challenges. From housing to healthcare to veterans benefits and more, my office can connect you to helpful resources, services, and programs.

I am pleased to announce that I have been selected by Connecticut Voices for Children's as this year's First for Kids honoree! CT Voices is a research-based advocacy organization dedicated to improving the financial wellbeing of Connecticut children and families, particularly those that have been historically disadvantaged.

Members of the Stamford Legislative Delegation, which includes state Senators Pat Billie Miller, state Representatives Corey P. Paris, Dan Fox, David Michel, Hubert Delany, and Matt Blumenthal, and Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons highlighted state funding for Stamford high schools in the recently passed state budget. The state budget, House Bill 5506, was signed into law on Monday. Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff (D - Norwalk) announced that all schools in Stamford will be reimbursed 60% of each new school project over the next 25 years. 

Connecticut families continue to be impacted by historic inflation, affecting nearly every aspect of daily life. My colleagues and I remain committed to finding ways to put money back into your pockets. That's why my main goal this year is cutting taxes for Connecticut families.

The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy and must be fair and accessible to all. As states across the U.S. seek to limit access to the ballot box, Connecticut is taking steps in the opposite direction. On Thursday, I was proud to stand alongside my legislative colleagues and advocates to call for passage of the Connecticut Voting Rights Act.
