Biography

State Representative Michael D. Quinn was elected in November 2020 to represent the 82nd House District in Meriden. During his first term, he served as vice chair of the Executive & Legislative Nominations Committee and a member of the Judiciary and Public Safety & Security Committees.

For the 2023 legislative session, Rep. Quinn has been appointed Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee and as Assistant Majority Leader. He will continue to serve on the Executive and Legislative Nominations Committee and the Public Safety and Security Committee.

Rep. Quinn is an attorney and partner in the Meriden law firm of Mahon, Quinn & Mahon. His focus includes representing injured workers before the Workers' Compensation Commission, personal injury and criminal defense.

He served as the Corporation Counsel for the City of Meriden from 2007 through his joining the General Assembly and is an active member of the American Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, and the Connecticut Bar Association Workers' Compensation section.

A resident of Meriden, Quinn has long been active in the local community. He is a longtime board member and former vice president of the Meriden Hall of Fame Association; a past director of the Meriden YMCA Board of Directors; and past president and board member of Meriden-Wallingford Chrysalis, Inc. He received the “First 100 Plus” award in 2012 from the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Quinn has been a commissioner, treasurer and chairman of the Meriden Housing Authority and chaired the Mills Study Advisory Committee, which was tasked with making recommendations as to the future of one of Meriden’s public housing developments.

Long active in local politics, Michael has served on the Meriden Democratic Town Committee as a member and treasurer. He was also the Meriden Democrats' Chief Election Moderator prior to becoming the City’s Corporation Counsel.

He is an avid airliner and fire apparatus photographer, is the Vice President of the Connecticut Fire Photographers Association, a member of the By-Laws Committee of the International Fire Buffs Associates, and holds memberships in the Box 52 Club (Boston, MA), the Southern Connecticut Antique Fire Apparatus Collectors, the Crown Firecoach Enthusiasts Club and the Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America.

Rep. Quinn is also an classic automobile collector and a proud AKC Champion Bearded Collie owner.
