September is Alzheimer's Awareness Month
September is World Alzheimer's Awareness Month and I want to invite you to help raise awareness about this important issue.
Alzheimer's disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and 5.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s.
It is projected that by 2050 the number of cases in the United States will rise to nearly 14 million and the only way to prevent Alzheimer's is through early and accurate diagnosis!
Please take a moment to review a list of warning signs for Alzheimer’s and other dementias to get a head start.
The Alzheimer’s Association, with local offices in Southington and Hamden, is an excellent resource that offers programs, services and support to families and individuals affected with this illness.
I hope you will take a moment to consider joining me in helping spread the word and help others get the support they need.
Additionally, during this month through October, a few Walks to End Alzheimer’s are being planned. If you can, please consider supporting these efforts. More information is available here.
