Tackling Prescription Drug Costs

April 3, 2019

Connecticut residents have expressed their frustration at rising prescription drug costs and their difficulty affording their medication. I understand this is a sensitive and critical issue for many who must take daily doses of prescribed treatment in order to improve their health. This is why I support HB 7174, An Act Concerning Prescription Drugs.

The bill recently advanced out of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee - which I serve on as vice-chair, and will be considered by the House this session.

This legislation is a good effort toward addressing the high cost of prescription medication by protecting small pharmacies and consumers, discouraging anti-competitive practices, and creating a task force to study other feasible importing options.

We must make every attempt to make prescription drugs more affordable and accessible for all our residents.
