Neighborhood Concerns on Delaney’s

At Lyric Hall, neighbors voiced support and concerns about a proposed apartment complex at the site of the 100-year-old building that housed Delaney’s – before the 2014 fire.

State Rep. Patricia Dillon, who represents the neighborhood in the state General Assembly, passed on some of her constituents’ concerns.

She said an important component was making sure there was “a natural flow from one business to another,” with an emphasis on the facades. She said the concern was that people did not see that in a sketch of the design that has been made public.

Dillon conceded that it is difficult to recreate the charming buildings in the village as, for one thing, most don’t conform with zoning.

“People were concerned with the visual experience and the sidewalk experience,” she said."
