I’m writing before the weekend to alert you to a sewage overflow in to New Haven rivers that could affect your health. We have experienced heavy rains and as you may know sewers on the west side have not been separated.
Notifications of sewage discharges help the public avoid boating, fishing or swimming in waterbodies that may contain illness causing bacteria. It does not take much rain to make a combined sewer system overflow. Never recreate next to sign indicating that a combined sewer is nearby, especially during a storm.
