Expanding Access to Absentee Ballots

Currently, Connecticut is just one of 16 states that require an excuse for voters to cast an absentee ballot. On Wednesday, the House of Representatives convened to vote on a proposal that would expand voter access to absentee ballots. The bill proposal would expand the statutory reasons a person may cast an absentee ballot to include make it easier to vote when you're out of town on Election Day or if you're feeling unwell or worried about your health in general.

Children's Mental Health Public Hearing Scheduled

I've heard from many in our community about the priority of the mental health and well-being of our state's youth and families. While we saw a rise in depression, anxiety, self-harm, and other forms of distress in young people prior to the pandemic, the increased isolation and uncertainty that has come from the past two years has worsened this issue. My colleagues and I have worked collaboratively on a bipartisan bill to provide additional support, resources and structural change to the children's mental health system in Connecticut.
