I want to wish you a Happy New Year! I look forward to serving you and the residents of Connecticut during the 2025 legislative session, which begins on January 8th. On that note, I want to point out several new laws passed during the 2024 session that will go into effect on Wednesday, January 1.

I want to take a moment to send my best wishes to you and your family for the holiday season. May it bring you and your loved ones peace, happiness, and time well spent together. Remember that no matter how we celebrate, we also share many blessings. So, in the spirit of the season, please spread the joy that makes this time of the year truly special.

I am proud to share that I have been re-appointed House Vice Chair of the Labor & Public Employees Committee! I want to thank House Dems leadership for again bestowing this honor on me. I do not take it lightly. I am truly humbled.

Starting January 1, Connecticut college students will be able to benefit from a bill we passed to alleviate student loan debt. The reimbursement program, led by House Democrats and the first of its kind in the nation, provides up to $5,000/year for up to four years (up to $20,000) in loan forgiveness.

I was happy to join fellow state representatives Corey Paris and Eleni Kavros DeGraw along with Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, CSCU Chancellor Terrence Cheng, students, and professors at a press conference and roundtable on Wednesday to discuss the upcoming student loan reimbursement program that could reimburse students if they meet certain criteria.

Access Health CT's Open Enrollment period begins today through January 15, 2025. Connecticut residents can shop, compare, and enroll in health insurance plans or renew their coverage. Customers may also enroll in dental insurance through AHCT.
