Vernon Schools are Making the Grade

September 20, 2024

Recently, Superintendent Joseph Macary shared that our students are outpacing state averages for proficiency in the subjects of English Language Arts and Math and Science. Not only that, but this is for the third straight year!

This information is according to the Connecticut Smarter Balanced assessments, which also showed student performance in our district continue to grow, and even more impressively, have outpaces all setbacks caused from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Connecticut has one of the best education systems in the country, so the fact that our students are above state averages should make us very proud of them. I know I love to see our students excel and can't wait to see the amazing things they do in the future!

You can read more about our students through the Town of Vernon or this Patch article.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month and I hope everyone can take some time to research and celebrate the culture that has had such a positive and lasting impact throughout our nation. This isn't just celebrating ideas and customs, but also honoring generations of resilience, creativity, and impact. From art to innovation, the Hispanic community continues to shape our world in powerful ways. Let’s uplift, honor, and keep making history together!

Helping Out Our Students

I've already mentioned how amazing our students have performed, so if you want to show any support for their hard work and dedication, then show up to Rocky's Hardware (71-73 Windsor Ave) on Saturday (Sept. 21) to support the RHS Girl's Soccer Team.
