I was thrilled to have seventh, and eighth-grade students from the Integrated Day Charter School to join me at the Capitol in Hartford last week to learn and participate in the state legislative process.
Students learned the process a bill goes through to become a law. With the help of legislative staff and Legislators, students participating in a mock public hearing and committee meeting. Students served as legislators and speakers on the issue of Cell phone bans in school. Rep. Manny Sanchez served as chair of the mock meetings.
At the end of the day, students visited the House Chamber and met Majority Leader Rojas, House Dems Chief of Staff Franklin Perry, and others to discuss how the chamber works.
I would like to thank the students for coming and learning about the legislative process. Your enthusiasm is an inspiration.
