Lemar Applauds Arts Grants For New Haven

Rep. Roland Lemar joined his New Haven colleagues in the House in hailing the announcement of a total of $125,000 in federal grants awarded in support of New Haven arts organizations.

The four grants for New Haven were among 15 totaling more than $1 million awarded to arts organizations in Connecticut by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and the Department of Economic and Community Development’s Office of the Arts announced the grant awards.

The list of recipients and their grants are as follows:

  • Artspace Inc., Our Town — Design, New Haven, $75,000
  • Connecticut Players Foundation, Inc., Art Works — Theater, New Haven, $10,000
  • Elm Shakespeare Company, Art Works — Theater, New Haven, $15,000
  • Music Haven, Inc., Art Works — Arts Education, New Haven, $25,000

Rep. Lemar and the New Haven representatives issued this joint statement:

“We applaud these organizations and the many contributions they make to our community – contributions that benefit not only New Haven, but all of Connecticut. We are thrilled that the National Endowment for the Arts recognized their work and chose to give them the support they deserve. We want to thank everyone who made these grants possible.”
