Public Hearing on Eversource Next Week

September 3, 2020

If you were unable to comment on Eversource Energy's recent rate increases and other related issues, you will have another opportunity September 10 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.when the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) conducts a public comment hearing.

The hearing will be held via Zoom. Members of the public should submit their information to the Office of Consumer Counsel (OCC) through the online registration form, here. Members of the public can also contact OCC via email at occ.info@ct.gov or by calling 860-827-290. The direct link to the Zoom public comment hearing is accessible here: https://ctdeep.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJcofuGqqj0uGdIzcn300ttCQqABLc9GBLOJ.

This public comment hearing comes following the OCC's motion to request another opportunity for live public comment on behalf of ratepayers who could not attend PURA's initial August 24 hearing. Due to the extended length of that hearing, OCC expressed concerns that some ratepayers wanting to speak were unable to remain present until the public comment portion of the hearing.

PURA is still accepting written public comment and Eversource customers wishing to comment in writing should submit their comments to PURA via email at pura.executivesecretary@ct.gov. Docket No. 20-01-01 should be referenced in the email.

There are 3 upcoming public comment hearings for the public to comment on Eversource and United Illuminating's responses to Tropical Storm Isaias. The hearing dates are slated for October 21, 22, and 23. Individuals seeking more information should contact PURA at the above email address referencing Docket No. 20-08-03.

The latest information on upcoming hearings and registration information can be accessed on PURA's Calendar of Events, here.
