COVID guidance update for Halloween

October 14, 2020
New Haven has seen a recent uptick in new Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations. The uptick is not surprising. We knew that fall would be a challenge. It parallels the rise in statewide cases, and may be driven by small gatherings of friends. I’m writing to update you on our reaction to that development.

First, because as much as 50% of transmission is from people who have no symptoms - are asymptomatic - it is important for us to maintain social distancing, mask wearing, and hand washing, whether we know our companions or not.

Second, because Halloween is coming,  the New Haven Health Department has issued  Guidance for Celebrating Halloween to help us to make decisions. I have attached that guidance and also a graph demonstrating.
