Small Business and Nonprofit Aid

October 30, 2020

With the rise in COVID cases, New Haven’s decision to move to Tier II may harm some small businesses and nonprofits temporarily. Below please find information and links about this morning’s session with CT DECD about its small grant program.

As you may be aware the state created the Connecticut CARES Small Business Grant Program to help small businesses and nonprofits that continue to be negatively impacted by COVID-19.

Small businesses and nonprofits in Connecticut with a 2019 payroll of less than $1.5 million OR 20 or fewer employees can apply for a one-time grant of $5,000. DECD will administer the program and online applications are estimated to begin the week of November 9. All funding will be disbursed by the end of the year.

On Friday morning, October 30, Deputy Commissioner Thames will host an informational ZOOM call with small businesses and nonprofits to review the details of the program and answer questions.

The session will also be streaming live on DECD's Facebook page. The session is being recorded and will be made available to those that cannot attend.
