December 4, 2020

House Speaker-designate Matt Ritter (D-Hartford) and House Majority Leader Jason Rojas (D-Manchester, East Hartford) today announced the appointment of Rep. Jason Doucette (D- Glastonbury, Manchester) as the House chairman of the Banking Committee.

"Rep. Doucette did exemplary work as vice-chair of the Banking Committee during the last session, making him the perfect person to take over the chair and make sure our banking system works for everyone in Connecticut," said Speaker-designate Ritter.

"As a fellow member of Manchester's delegation in the legislature, I know from experience how effective Rep. Doucette is as a legislator and how seriously he takes his job," said Majority Leader Rojas. "Rep. Doucette is an excellent choice to lead the House Democrats on this committee."

"I am so grateful to Speaker-designate Ritter and Majority Leader Rojas for granting me this incredible opportunity to chair the Banking Committee," said Rep. Doucette. "Making sure our banking system is strong and is fair and accessible for everyone is essential to securing Connecticut's future economic prosperity.  I look forward to continuing the work we started last session and the legacy of my friend and former chair, the late Rep. Ezequiel Santiago."

Rep. Doucette was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2018. In addition to the Banking Committee, Rep. Doucette also currently serves on both the Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee and the Finance, Revenue, and Bonding Committee.
