Manchester COVID-19 Update & Vaccine Availibility

December 23, 2020

I want to pass along information about the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as update you on how Manchester is faring against the virus.

Vaccine Availability

As of today, nearly 17,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered to Connecticut residents. All of the doses under this first phase of the state’s vaccination program have been given to people in the healthcare field and residents and staff of long-term care facilities. Nine nursing homes have so far completed vaccine administration, and 75 more nursing homes are scheduled to begin administering the vaccine this week.

During the first week of deliveries last week, the state received a over 31,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. This week, Connecticut will receive roughly 24,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and 63,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine.

New information about the vaccine continues to develop each day and plans for its distribution are expected to continue to evolve. Information on the state’s distribution plans is being published online at ct.gov/covidvaccine. This helpful FAQ may also answer some of the questions you might have about the distribution of the vaccine.
