The following data represents the total number of COVID-19 vaccinations administered in Connecticut, as reported to the state as of today:

  • First doses administered: 504,129
  • Second doses administered: 242,759
  • Total doses administered: 746,888
Last week was a busy one. The three committees I serve on, Public Health, Energy and Technology, and Children's, all held public hearings. For more information about the bills discussed each respective committee hearing, click on the corresponding hyperlink.

Public Health

The Public Health public hearing on Tuesday was one of the longest in the history of the Connecticut General Assembly. My colleagues and I listened to testimony from a wide range of perspectives, and we engaged in meaningful debate whenever appropriate.

As I have stated before, I do not have a problem with anyone who believes that the religious exemption for child vaccination should not be removed .  However, I do believe that we must be careful about how this debate is framed.

Any language that challenges the efficacy of vaccines is dangerous, especially during a global pandemic. I expressed this opinion several times throughout the public hearing.

If you'd like to learn more about my legislative priorities during the 2021 session, feel free to reach out to my office. Have a great weekend!

Energy and Technology

The Energy and Technology Committee held a public hearing on Thursday, February 18.  During the six hour hearing, 15 bills were discussed. I focused my attention on Raised H.B. No. 6409.

Children's

The Children's Committee also held a public hearing on Thursday. There was a great amount of meaningful conversation surrounding all of the raised bills, including  Raised H.B. No. 6417 - AN ACT REQUIRING BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF YOUTH CAMPS. To watch the public hearing, click here.
