Minimum Wage Increase In Effect In CT

August 2, 2021

I applauded Governor Ned Lamont when he signed a piece of legislation two years ago that focused squarely on assisting working families and improving their quality of life by increasing the minimum wage over a series of several years until it reaches $15 in 2023.

The most recent minimum wage increased on schedule, going from $12 to $13 per hour on Sunday,  Aug. 1, 2021. The minimum wage increase to $14 in 2022 and hits $15 in the Summer of 2023.

The Connecticut Department of Labor and Connecticut Voices for Children estimate those increases will raise wages for more than half a million people in the state by 2024 - but it's a win-win situation because not only will these increases aid hard-working families but the money spent is often kicked back to local businesses and communities which in turn can generate money for them and the state as well.
