Brownfield Remediation Funding

January 31, 2022

Thank you Lt. Governor Bysiewicz and Governor Lamont for including an important project in the recently announced funding to remediate brownfield properties that promote the health of our environment and our economy. $1.8M is being invested across from The Little Rendezvous in Meriden, into market-rate housing and commercial space.

The $1.8 million dollars award to the City to cleanup brownfields contamination at 289 and 290 Pratt Street. 290 Pratt contains a thriving mixed-use commercial and industrial building that was once home to the New Departure division of General Motors. 289 Pratt has been a vacant parking lot for many years, and the cleanup will pave the way for the owners to develop 92 units of market rate apartment housing with retail opportunities on the site.
