Rep. Dillon Announces Approval of Bonding Projects!

April 4, 2022

Great news! The State Bond Commission has officially approved two local projects during its meeting earlier today. These projects were initially brought to my attention by several constituents, and I pushed hard for their inclusion on the commission's agenda.

Those projects are:

  • $1 million grant-in-aid for flood mediation along Route 122. This proposal, requested by homeowners on Forest Road and nearby streets, begins the design process to improve drainage and stop the damage to residential property from runoff on a state road. This has deteriorated with an increase in extreme weather. The city of New Haven is expected to take the lead, working with state agencies. Thank you to the homeowners whose advocacy will improve our quality of life.
  • $2 million grant-in-aid distributed through the CT Department of Education to the Montessori School on Edgewood for the renovation of 1377 Ella T. Grasso Blvd to expand pre-school offerings was supported by elected and community leaders in Dwight, Edgewood, and West River, and supplements dollars secured by Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro. This proposal will improve a property in the Edgewood area in addition to helping children and their families.

I thank the State Bond Commission and Governor Lamont for supporting both of these items, and I'm excited that our community is focusing on the future despite the difficult times we have faced in recent years. I look forward to seeing progress on these projects.
