REP. MUSHINSKY ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL FUNDING TO COMPLETE QUINNIPIAC RIVER LINEAR TRAIL PROJECT

August 30, 2022

State Representative Mary Mushinsky (D- Wallingford) commends the Connecticut Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) for increasing funding in order to complete the Quinnipiac River Linear Trail Fireworks Island bridge project in Wallingford.

“After making the Department aware of the existence of a funding gap that would have halted the progress already made on the trail, I am overjoyed that the D.O.T. is able to step up with additional funds to ensure we can bridge the gap to Yalesville,” said Rep. Mushinsky, who is co-chair of the trail committee. “These funds will allow us to complete the link from Fireworks Island to Main Street, Yalesville for pedestrians and bicyclists so that all members of our community can safely travel for years to come. I thank Commissioner Giulietti and Deputy Commissioner Eucalitto for their responsiveness and willingness to help the Town find a solution.”

In order to close the $280,000 funding gap, the D.O.T. will increase the award of the Community Connectivity Grant which was already awarded to Wallingford in order to finish the missing bridge section of the Quinnipiac River Linear Trail, which will connect downtown Wallingford with Yalesville.

Wallingford was first awarded a $400,000 DOT Connectivity Grant for the trail back in 2018.
