Hartford to Receive 45 Million in Funding for City Projects

I am pleased to announce that Hartford will receive $4.5 million in funding for various projects that will significantly improve our city.
 
The state targeted funding to the City of Hartford, the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), the Connecticut Science Center, and several local neighborhood non-profits to help with their missions.

The state targeted funding to the City of Hartford, the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), Connecticut Science Center, and several local neighborhood non-profits to help with their missions.


 

Funding for the City of Hartford:

  • Brownfield remediation - $2 million
  • The hARTline linear park project connecting Hartford and Bloomfield - $1.5 million
  • Property improvements on Magnolia and Irving streets - $1 million

The CRDA  will receive $5.5 million in funding for the redevelopment of the former Fuller Brush factory in north Hartford into new housing units. The Connecticut Science Center is slated to receive $10 million for renovations and technology upgrades.
 
Funding for Non-profits:

  • Elizabeth Park Conservancy - $1 million
  • Northside Neighborhood Alliance - $500,000
  • YMCA of Greater Hartford, Albany Ave. location - $500,000
  • Boys & Girls Club of Hartford, Northwest location - $500,000

These community-based organizations will receive grants to help move their important mission forward, enhancing the quality of life in the neighborhoods they are located in and benefiting all residents throughout the City.
 
I want to thank Governor Lamont and the State Bonding Commission for their consideration and understanding of the great impact this will have on Hartford. I also like to thank House Speaker Ritter and the Hartford Delegation for their work in securing this funding.  The money was approved at Friday's State Bond Commission meeting.
