Appointment as House Chair of Housing Committee

December 14, 2022

Speaker of the House Matt Ritter (D-Hartford) and House Majority Leader Jason Rojas (D-East Hartford, Manchester) have announced my appointment as House Chair of the Housing Committee.

I am grateful to Speaker Ritter and Majority Leader Rojas for this opportunity, and I will work tirelessly every day to honor the confidence they have placed in me to lead the Housing Committee, Together, we have an opportunity to re-imagine our housing policies and improve outcomes, with an eye toward transformational investments in affordable housing. Affordability, community investment, and enhancing the residential housing sector as an economic catalyst for middle-class Connecticut job growth will be some of our top priorities.

The double-whammy of pandemic-triggered economic housing market disruptions and inflation in housing costs will require some innovative new policy solutions to help improve the lives of families in Connecticut and I am optimistic we can rise to the challenge and make a real difference through our Committee work, It is said that "home is where the heart is" but for far too many Connecticut families the stability and affordability of housing is where help is most needed, which is where our hearts and minds must focus as policymakers.

The new legislative session starts Jan. 4, 2023, and I am excited to begin this work.
