Meeting You In Person in the 6th District

April 27, 2023

It’s been an invigorating week as I met some amazing people all around Hartford and West Hartford. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to hear your stories, and having the opportunity to thank you for your continued support as your State Representative. Here is an update for you to see what I have been up to in the past weeks.

WHAT HAS YOUR REP BEEN UP TO?

I had the privilege to meet the incredible staff and volunteers at Foodshare. I also had an opportunity to meet hundreds of members of our community last Friday at the Webster Theater alongside Rep. Julio Conception. A crowd lined up for support of much-needed food and a free meal, courtesy of the mobile Connecticut Foodshare pantry.

It was a pleasure to speak with constituents and to see their vision for the 6th district. I want to thank Connecticut Foodshare's Paul Shipman and the staff for its continued effort to feed those in need throughout the state.

The following day, I was honored to host a moving and emotional ceremony to commemorate 108 years since the Armenian genocide. It was an opportunity to come together and remember the lives of the innocent lives taken. The offspring of the survivors fled Europe and thousands traveled to Connecticut to be free of persecution and pursue a life of happiness. Connecticut has and will always open its doors to the Armenian community.

We also took a moment to honor your previous State Representative, Edwin Vargas, who attended the ceremony at the State Capitol. Vargas hosted this important gathering for many years and always supported the Armenian American community.

He devoted his life to public service and brought progress to our district, working on and supporting bills and policies that support renovating our schools and improving behavioral health services for children.

It was a pleasure to join the West Hartford delegation for a town hall to break down all the components of House Bill 5001, which addresses resources and support services for those with an intellectual or developmental disability. Thank you to our host Rep. Jillian Gilchrest for inviting me to share my perspective and for giving me the opportunity to hear from residents.
