Trinity College Celebrates 200 Years in Hartford

May 22, 2023

Trinity College is celebrating 200 years since the school opened in Hartford, and we raised Trinity’s flag at the State Capitol – the college’s original campus. Trinity moved to its current location in 1878. We honored Trinity’s past but also looked forward to the college’s bright future.

It was a pleasure joining Governor Ned Lamont, Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Speaker of the House Matt Ritter, House Majority Leader Jason Rojas, Trinity College President Joanne Berger-Sweeney, and everyone else for this celebration.

Trinity College has had a huge impact in our state government. House Majority Leader Jason Rojas serves as Trinity College’s president’s chief of staff and associate vice president for external affairs. Paul Mounds, who graduated from Trinity in 2007, served as Governor Lamont’s chief of staff and general counsel. And countless student interns and alumni have also helped shape our state. I look forward to seeing the next crop of Trinity students climbing up the ranks.
