On my weekly public affairs show, “Let’s Talk About It,” we had a couple of guests tackle two different topics. Musician David Lefty Foster previewed the big show on the Shaboo Stage in the Main Street Historical District in Willimantic. Dennis Polisky & Maestros Men Polka Band will take the stage followed by the Shaboo All Starts with David Lefty Foster and Christine Ohlman. All proceeds support the Covenant Soup Kitchen in town.

Lori Brown from the League of Conservation Voters then joined us to talk about environmental proposals that are on the table this legislative session. She is hopeful these bills will pass the House and Senate before June 7.

SB 962 would ban some rodenticides to preserve hawk populations and other animals. SB 963 would prohibit the nonagricultural use of neonicotinoids to prevent killing pollinators that we rely on for our food and flowers. HB 6397 would create policies and accountability for reaching the state’s carbon-reduction goals.
