Happy New Year!

January 1, 2016

New Year's is a time to look forward to new challenges, to give prayers and thanks for the health of our community, and to reflect on this year's journey.

As we ring in the new year, we will be ringing in a raise in the minimum wage on January 1, 2016. Our state's minimum wage will increase to $9.60 on January 1, and to $10.10 in 2017. This increase will invest money back into our economy.

This year was a very busy year for the legislature, extending until December's special session.

It was also a busy year in New Haven. Partnering with state government, our community continued positive work to reduce violence, help vulnerable children, and make our streets safer. We removed a dam on the West River for over two hundred years, enabling fish to travel from upstream to the sea and restoring our habitat.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.
