Thanksgiving Cooking Tips & Safety

Cooking a turkey for Thanksgiving is a cherished tradition that brings joy, unity, and gratitude. The process begins with selecting the perfect bird, carefully preparing, and envisioning the meal to come with friends and family. As the turkey roasts, its rich aroma fills the house, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that draws family and friends to the kitchen.

I'm sure many of you have your own family recipe, but feel free to consider the roasting tips below.

May your Thanksgiving be filled with good company as we all cherish these moments of togetherness and celebrate the blessings that make life special.

Outpouring of Support This Thanksgiving
I would like to thank everyone who collaborated to support the Hockanum Valley Community Council (HVCC) ahead of its Thanksgiving giveaway. The Scouts, Avery Street Church’s youth group, and countless others embraced the holiday spirit and contributed to HVCC’s mission of feeding those who are in need.
Whether it was packing more than 300 bags, collecting thousands of pounds of food, or ensuring the shelves at HVCC are stocked, we are grateful that young people and our community as a whole are making such a meaningful difference.

Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday, which takes place two days after Thanksgiving, shines a spotlight on locally owned businesses. It encourages folks to shop small and support their communities during the busy holiday shopping season.

By participating, you can find unique, personalized gifts while contributing to the local economy and keeping money within the community. Small Business Saturday fosters a sense of connection, strengthening neighborhoods and ensuring that local businesses, which are often the heart of their communities, continue to thrive.
