Our 2026 legislative session kicked off this week and we’re ready to get to work. As an even-year session, this is a shorter session running from February 4 through May 6. Opening day is always a festive and exciting day for legislators, staff, family and friends.

Governor Lamont delivered his State of the State Address with updates to the state budget for Fiscal Year 2027. We will be closely reviewing these updates over the coming weeks in the Appropriations Committee and through our legislative process.
I am glad that the Governor publicly denounced the activities of ICE on our immigrant friends & neighbors and other federal actions that are making significant cuts to our social safety net, including Medicaid, SNAP, and other nonprofit federal funding. We are committed in the state to continue protecting our social safety net.
