The City of Hartford has opened cooling centers for residents through 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, due to a forecasted heat wave. The Hartford Fire Department is also handing out water to residents throughout the city.
According to the state’s emergency protocol, it is strongly encouraged to:
- Drink more water than usual
- Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink more fluids
- Drink two to four cups of water every hour while working or exercising outside
- Avoid alcohol or liquids containing high amounts of sugar
- Remind others to drink enough water
