The deadline of August 31 is quickly approaching for Connecticut employers to register or opt out of the state's MyCTSavings retirement plan for their employees.

Train service on the Metro-North New Canaan Branch Line will resume on Saturday, September 2 with the 6:28 a.m. train. Over the last several months, a track improvement project was underway along the line. Now that the project is complete, an existing speed restriction in the Stamford area has been eliminated, allowing trains to travel 20 miles per hour faster through this section.

The Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS), in consultation with the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE), has announced that $8.8 million in special food assistance benefits is scheduled to be distributed Sunday, August 13, 2023, to the families of 57,313 children under age 6 who are enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Homegoing services are scheduled for Reverend Dr. Tommie Jackson on Friday, August 4, at Union Baptist Church in Stamford. Viewing is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The service starts at 12 p.m.

Crews will soon be installing the pedestrian bridge from the new garage to the Stamford Transportation Center which means there will be road closures in the area. The work will take place at night from 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. from Monday, July 31 through Thursday, August 3.

There will be a vigil on Friday, July 28, at 7 p.m., at the Stamford Government Center, to honor the life and legacy of Reverend Tommie Jackson, who died unexpectedly Wednesday in an accident involving a police cruiser.

Rep. Paris joined 90 state legislators from 41 states across the country, as well as First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, to discuss childcare policy achievements from their respective legislative sessions. The group of lawmakers explored different legislative strategies to make childcare more affordable for working families, increase childcare provider supply, and improve job quality for childcare workers.

Part of what makes Connecticut great is that we seek to lift up all residents, regardless of income or background. This program is one more example of that commitment to our community.
