Latino Advocacy Day

March 22, 2019

This week, the State Capitol welcomed dozens of Latino organizations from across the state to celebrate the 6th Annual Latino Advocacy Day. I am proud to see the mobilization of the Latino community as they continue raising awareness on issues they are passionate about. Indisputably, advocacy plays a key role in our government and it is encouraging to see how committed our communities are to have their voices heard.

We took time to honor and remember our friend and colleague, the late State Representative Ezequiel Santiago of Bridgeport, who passed away unexpectedly last Friday.

This festive event presented panel discussions addressing issues affecting Latino and minority communities statewide, as well as a fruitful exchange of ideas to help improve opportunities for this emerging population. It also featured an impressive spread of delicious food and pastries for everyone to enjoy.

The main focus of our public service is you. Let’s continue our collective work to keep moving towards positive change for all.
