Last Friday, Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner, Garrett Eucalitto joined the Transportation Committee for an oversight hearing on the department’s activities.

Before I share information with you about some upcoming events, I wanted to remind many of you to stay safe this weekend as we face sub-zero degree temperatures, which brings increased risks to ourselves and our communities.

Next week, three of the committees I serve on, Transportation, Public Health, and Planning and Development, will hold their first public hearings!

This week, the work of the General Assembly is in full swing. In addition to committee votes, press conferences, and meetings with constituents and stakeholders, we will hold our first Session since opening day.

The 2023 Session kicked off on January 4th. Together with all of you, I look forward to what we can do to help keep our communities and our state healthy, safe, and strong.

Thanks to the work of our Congressional Delegation, an additional $1 Billion boost in federal funding to the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), allowing for more households to receive the benefit in the state, has been allocated as part of an emergency supplemental aid package.

On Thursday, September 8 from 7:30PM - 9:00PM, I will join Representative Stephen Harding to discuss what life experiences have influenced our policy views, how polarization has impacted government, and what can be done to address it.
