As Co-Chair of the Legislature’s LGBTQ+ Caucus, I was proud to stand with state leaders today to mark the beginning of Pride Month and to make it clear that Connecticut isn’t backing down when it comes to protecting LGBTQ+ rights.

For too long, Connecticut's special education model has faced fundamental flaws that prevented all students from receiving the proper education they deserve. With our recent passage of HB 5001: An Act Concerning the Quality and Delivery of Special Education Services in Connecticut, we are taking important steps to reform this system.

I wanted to share an update on an issue that’s affected our community, illegal street takeovers and reckless ATV and dirt bike use. We’ve seen firsthand how these incidents threaten public safety in both Bethel and Danbury.

Yesterday, I voted No on HB 5002, a major housing bill that, despite last-minute changes, still places unworkable mandates on towns like Bethel and Danbury and cuts the public out of critical decisions.

Let me be clear: I support expanding affordable housing and have consistently backed smart, inclusive development. But this bill goes too far, too fast, and leaves local communities behind.

I voted YES on the revised expansion of Connecticut’s Trust Act.

This bill protects due process by making sure individuals aren’t funneled into ICE custody without cause while still allowing law enforcement to report serious criminal convictions. It ensures immigrants can safely go to school, court, or seek help from local authorities without fear.

Earlier this year, I shared that I had called for the creation of a subcommittee within the Connecticut Sentencing Commission to examine sentencing outcomes in domestic and intimate partner violence cases. That subcommittee is now deep into its work and I wanted to share an update.

I’m proud to report that a bill I helped lead — HB 6913: An Act Concerning Discrimination in Long-Term Care Facilities — has officially passed the House of Representatives.

It was a good day to wear green.

Yesterday, I voted yes on HB 5004, Connecticut’s commitment to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
