I am hosting an Anti-Bullying and School Climate Forum on August 10th with the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity & Opportunity and some of our state’s anti-bullying experts.

I am pleased to share that Covered Connecticut has expanded to allow adults without children to apply for the program and will now provide dental coverage and non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) benefits.

The new Career Academy will be built using $164 million to renovate the old Cartus building off Kenosia Avenue. To help alleviate pressure on Danbury's mill rate and our taxpayers, this session, I helped pass legislation that requires the state to reimburse Danbury up to 80 percent of the project’s $164 million cost. This is a great deal for Danbury.

Today is Gun Violence Awareness Day and marks the beginning of Wear Orange Weekend.

It's with great sadness that I share with you the loss of Bobbi the Bear, a beloved member of the Newtown community. Last Thursday, Bobbi was shot multiple times on Scudder Road by a home owner in Newtown, leaving behind two orphaned cubs.
