Last Thursday, February 29, Dr. Benjamin Foster and I hosted the second annual “Call Their Name” event. We honored and celebrated leadership in Connecticut's Black community.

I'm excited to share my commitment to protecting the environment and working to combat climate change. HB 5004 "An Act Concerning the Implementation of Certain Climate Change Measures," was subject to an Environment Committee public hearing on March 8 and was passed out of the Environment Committee 23-11 last week. It now heads to the House Floor for consideration.

Next Monday, March 18, I will host a Senior Forum panel. The event will provide advice on how to avoid scams and scammers. I will be joined by several special guests, including officials from AARP CT, the Department of Aging and Disabilities Services, and the Bloomfield Commission on Aging. My colleague Rep. Garibay, the House Chair of the Aging Committee, will also be in attendance. Please reach out to my office if you have any questions.

January 27 is Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this day, which commemorates the liberation of Auschwitz in 1945, we remember the millions of victims of the Holocaust, the genocide of 6 million Jews and the millions of other victims of Nazi atrocities.

The Tax Collector for the Town of Windsor wishes to inform taxpayers that supplemental motor vehicle taxes on the Grand List of October 1, 2022 are due in full January 1, 2024 and payable without penalty by February 1, 2024. These tax bills are for vehicles registered between October 1, 2022 and September 30, 2023.

The Black and Puerto Rican Caucus will hold a forum next Tuesday, January 9 via Zoom. The caucus is seeking input from you - we want to hear your concerns and suggestions about issues concerning Black and Latino communities in the state
