A number of new laws that are effective on October 1st were passed during the 2023 legislative session that address several issue areas to improve our great state.

Connecticut is about to take a transformative step toward making prescription drugs more affordable for everyone.

The Office of the State Comptroller is now accepting applications for the Hartford Flood Compensation Program. It is a $5 million pilot program that will provide reimbursement to eligible property owners in the City of Hartford who experienced flood damage on or after January 1, 2021.

We successfully passed a number of measures, which will enhance and support our skilled workforce and make our state more attractive for companies and new businesses.

We have made significant strides in supporting higher education and ensuring a brighter future with opportunities, support, and financial relief for our students.

It’s that time again when we start winding down the summer and begin back-to-school preparations; I want to share news and events that will ease that transition for the upcoming school year.

Connecticut is one of 13 states to pass paid family and medical leave legislation. We should be proud of this program, which is held up as a national model for other states to emulate.

As co-chair of the Reproductive Rights Caucus, I am pleased that Connecticut has been a national leader in passing a number of measures defending residents, healthcare workers, and those from out-of-state seeking reproductive services and resources in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's devastating decision overturning Roe v. Wade.
