For decades, the property was used to test munitions developed by the Union Metallic Cartridge Company, then Remington Arms. In 1986, after Remington closed in Bridgeport, the property underwent a long-term cleanup effort. Part of that effort includes a plan to preserve large portions of Remington Woods for public use. 

During the recent State Bond Commission meeting, the commission approved $2.43 million in funds to help Optimus Health Care with renovations at its East Main Street location in Bridgeport. This major investment will expand access to OB/GYN, pediatric, and dental care for patients in Bridgeport, Stratford, and the surrounding region.

I spent Monday morning in Stratford with Governor Lamont, where the governor announced that, as a result of the fiscal year 2027 state budget bill signed into law last week, the administration is making an additional investment of approximately $320 million into Connecticut’s recently established Early Childhood Education Endowment.

I'm happy to share with you that today, the State Bond Commission approved $2 million in bond funding to complete a renovation project at Stratford’s Alliance for Community Empowerment Child Care, located on the Holy Name of Jesus Child Care Center campus.

It was my pleasure to submit the bond request on behalf of the Alliance, and along with the entire Stratford Delegation, we applaud its approval.

The Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority (CHESLA) has launched MyCHESLA Grad Loan, a new state-based graduate loan program designed to protect access to affordable, fixed-rate financing for Connecticut students pursuing advanced degrees amid the elimination of the federal Grad PLUS loan program effective July 1.
