Operation Fuel Application Period Now Open

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. On the third Monday of January, we take a moment to celebrate the life and accomplishments of one of the most prominent civil rights leaders in American history. Dr. King and his peers pushed the federal government to fulfil a promise made in the Declaration of Independence, that "all men are created equal." His work led to civil rights legislation that still impacts our society to this day.

State Funding for Affordable Mixed Use Housing

December 1, 2023

On Monday, I joined a group of Norwalk leaders to celebrate the $1.3 million state grant awarded to develop a AFFORDABLE 200-unit mixed-use and mixed-income transit-oriented development. Since being awarded the funds, the project has obtained local land use approvals with construction and brownfield remediation. Construction is set to begin in the Spring/Summer of next year. I am thrilled that our city has received this funding and cannot wait to see this development come to fruition.

Although local municipal elections do not receive as much attention as their national counterparts, they are still just as important. Elected officials at every level have an impact on your day to day life. Dame Dash Visits Norwalk, More Funding for Norwalk Public Schools

Earlier this week, I joined hip hop icon Dame Dash at Nathan Hale Middle School in Norwalk. Dame talked to the students about what it means to start and run a business, and I discussed the importance of democracy and the legislative process. It was an incredible opportunity, and I hope it had a positive impact on the students who attended.

Funding for Norwalk Public Schools & NAACP of Norwalk Freedom Dinner

I'm thrilled to share some exciting news with you today. Norwalk Public Schools has been awarded a $15 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education Magnet Schools Assistance Program! These funds will be utilized to enhance the educational experiences at three of our esteemed institutions: Ponus Ridge STEAM Academy, Kendall College and Career Academy, and P-TECH Norwalk.
