A Good Time: MOVE! With Greater Hartford Urban League Event
July 17, 2025I had a lot of fun on Saturday at the MOVE! The Greater Hartford Urban League's summer event at Keney Park, which celebrates the many ways community members are active, whether running, walking, stretching, playing, or dancing.
There was a 5K run and a 1-mile walk.
The public enjoyed a free Movement Festival with live entertainment, fresh produce distribution, food, health and fitness information, yoga and stretching demonstrations, movement stations, arts & crafts, and community resources.
And of course, I was proud to present the Earl Exum Award, in memory of my husband, to Dr. Kirsten L. Ek, FACP.
Dr Ek is an Academic Hospitalist at the UCONN School of Medicine, who serves as Course Director: Patient Advocacy in Communities, Teams & Health Systems.
Every January, Dr. Ek leads a Health Equity immersion project for first-year students in Hartford’s North End, concluding with a panel that includes the Urban League.
