Updates from State Rep. Nick Gauthier for April 10, 2026

April 10, 2026

As many Connecticut families begin their spring cleaning, it’s also a great time to safely clear out unused or expired medications from your home. Proper disposal helps prevent misuse and protects our communities and environment.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is coming up on Saturday, April 25, offering a convenient way to drop off old medications at local collection sites across the state.

  • Walgreens, 601 Norwich-New London Turnpike, Montville, is taking part in the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you’re unable to participate that day, there are safe, year-round options available.

  • Waterford Police Department: 417 Boston Post Road, Waterford, has a year-round drop box available.
  • Montville Public Safety Building: 911 Route 32, Montville. Residents can typically drop off unused or expired medications anonymously.

The MyOldMeds locator tool connects residents to more than 200 secure medication disposal sites throughout Connecticut. By simply entering your ZIP code, you can quickly find a nearby drop-off location, along with helpful guidance on safe medication storage and disposal practices.

I encourage you to take advantage of these free resources and help spread the word to friends and neighbors. Together, we can keep our homes safe and our communities healthy.

If you have any questions or need assistance finding a location, please reach out to my office.

Electric Boat Hiring

Electric Boat is set to hire thousands of workers in Connecticut this year, targeting 8,000 new hires statewide, with more than 2,000 of those positions located in Groton. This comes as Electric Boat also recently purchased the Waterford Crystal Mall, which will be converted into offices, laboratories and training facilities. For more information, visit wfsb.com.

Progress on Overdose Deaths

Connecticut is making progress in the fight against overdose deaths. From 2021 to 2025, overdose fatalities fell roughly 45 percent statewide, thanks in large part to increased availability of naloxone and other opioid reversal medications. Officials continue working to put naloxone in more hands, including providing it to every state trooper. Read more at CT Insider.
