Honoring the Fallen on Memorial Day

May 24, 2020

Memorial Day is a time for us to remember and honor all those who have died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. 'Thank you' to all our veterans for their devoted service in the defense of our great nation.

As we continue to practice social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, the usual parades and other public events have been canceled. However, there are still safe ways to honor those who gave their lives for our country. Read this Hartford Courant article for suggestions. You might consider putting up a display, visiting a cemetery or war memorial, or donate to a veterans' organization. All are thoughtful and safe alternatives to pay tribute.

The state of Connecticut will recognize Memorial Day this year with flags flying at half-staff. Governor Ned Lamont has ordered flags to fly at half-staff on Monday, May 25. Read his press release here.

Even during these trying times, it's important that we take a moment on Memorial Day to show them our love and gratitude.
