CARES Act Brings Good News for Danbury Schools

May 13, 2020

Elementary and Secondary School Education Relief (ESSER) is on the way to Connecticut, $111 million to be exact, after the state Department of Educations's application for funding under the CARES Act was approved by the U.S. Department of Education.

I am thrilled to learn that the Danbury's Public Schools are getting $2,286,030 because of the CARES Act!

You can read more in the letter from Commissioner Miguel Cardona below but it states, in part "The Department was awarded $111 million in funding, of which $11.1 million will b e reserved for state-level activities, and the balance of $99.9 million will be distributed to local education agencies (LEAs) based on the proportion of Title I funding they received for fiscal year 2020."
