DANBURY DELEGATION HAILS MOBILE VACCINE VAN ARRIVAL THIS WEEK

State Representatives Bob Godfrey (D-Danbury 110th District), Ken Gucker (138th), David Arconti Jr. (109th), Raghib Allie-Brennan (2nd) along with Senator Julie Kushner welcome the arrival of the Department of Public Health's Mobile Vaccination Unit in Danbury this week.

The first-of-its-kind mobile vaccination unit began in Connecticut through a partnership with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the federal government. It will serve as a pop-up clinic in 17 of the state's most socially vulnerable communities affected by COVID-19 throughout April and May. All individuals 16 and over are now eligible for the vaccine. No appointment is necessary.

Mobile vaccination opportunities in Danbury this week are as follows:

  • Wednesday, April 28, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Danbury Ice Arena, 1 Independence Way
  • Thursday, April 29, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Danbury Library, 170 Main Street
  • Friday, April 30, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Danbury Ice Arena, 1 Independence Way
  • Friday April 30, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Danbury Library, 170 Main Street

“The vaccines have made a big difference in containing the virus," Rep. Godfrey said. "We still need a lot of people who haven’t been vaccinated to do so, so we can hit the ‘herd immunity’ goal that protects everyone. The van will especially serve people who have not had access before.”

“I am thrilled that the vaccination van will make a stop in Danbury," Rep. Gucker said. Although Connecticut’s vaccine rollout has been a success, it is still important to make the shot as accessible as possible. These mobile sites will play a significant role as we try to return to normal.”

“I am pleased the mobile vaccine van will be available in our Danbury area for residents who have been unable to get an appointment or for those who have difficulty accessing other locations to get their vaccine,” said Rep. Arconti. “A clear way out of this pandemic is getting as many people vaccinated as we can, and as quickly as we can.”

"We’re not at herd immunity yet, but we’re getting closer," said Rep. Allie-Brennan. "I got my shot earlier this month and I urge everyone to do the same. Getting vaccinated is so important to ensure our community recovers strong."

"Connecticut's vaccine adoption rate is one of the highest in the country, but there are still hundreds of thousands of people statewide who do not yet have protection against COVID-19, especially those who have struggled to access vaccines," said Sen. Kushner. "The mobile vaccination sites in Danbury will help us to move forward in our recovery."
