We're With You Uvalde

Addressing Gun Violence
I attended and supported colleagues and advocates at a press conference at the Capitol this week in support of common sense gun laws. The second deadliest school shooting on U.S. soil, where  21 people were killed including 19 children, occurred just a couple of days earlier in Uvalde, Tx. I will always stand in support of protecting our children, families and communities against gun violence.
I'm here with Rep. Nolan and Terra Volpe, director of community outreach for CT Against Gun Violence (CAVG).

DCF News: Getting Help Finding Baby Formula

The current infant formula shortage has created a serious challenge for families in Connecticut. While the federal government is taking steps to resolve the problem, we know that many families who rely on formula need help right now.

OEC created an infant formula fact sheet to:

  • Offer tips on finding formula in stores and online
  • Help you contact organizations that may have a supply
  • Provide other guidance that may help

Check out the infant formula fact sheet — and make sure to share it with families you work with.

ParkConneCT Returns This Weekend

ParkConneCT, was a pilot program launched last year offering fare-free shuttles and enhanced existing transit service to many Connecticut state parks and beaches, is set to continue this summer. It begins this Saturday, May 28, 2022 through Labor Day (September 5, 2022).

ParkConneCT also aims to connect people to Connecticut state parks and beaches during the summer months to support seasonal employment and promote recreational activity. It is a collaboration of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT).

I'd like to thank Adrienne Cochrane, and the YWCA Hartford Region, for having me on for their Facebook event entitled "YWLive Lunch And Learn with State Rep. Tammy Exum."

I enjoyed myself. We discussed a lot of topics, including how I got into politics and more. In case you missed it, I am adding the video here. Please click on the image below to watch.

Jackson Laboratory Visit
I was happy to join students from Conard High School, West Hartford, who were being honor as participants in the Academic Year Fellows program at the Jackson Laboratory in Farmington.
The high school students have served as research team members within our labs in Connecticut, working with assigned mentors to design, implement and report on an independent research project related to the lab’s areas of focus, and earning credit with integrated coursework at their schools.
