State Representative Christine Palm (D-Chester, Deep River, Essex, Haddam) was named “Legislator of the Year” by the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV), which also honored two additional individuals and one organization, at a recent ceremony.

"I'm truly grateful to be recognized for this award," said Representative Palm, who serves as Vice Chair of the Connecticut General Assembly's Environment Committee. "We can't just say that protecting the environment for future generations is worth fighting for; we need the political will to change the status quo. Steps we take today to protect our natural resources are essential to ensuring a livable future."

"Representative Christine Palm is one of the most energetic and determined environmental leaders that we can count on at the State Capitol," said CTLCV Executive Director Lori Brown.  "She understands the interconnectedness of environmental issues and knows that climate action involves air, water, flora, fauna, and people. That is why CTLCV honored Christine Palm with its first Legislator of the Year award In Recognition of Her Unwavering Commitment to Advancing Climate Legislation and Inspiring the Next Generation of Environmental Leaders."

Also honored by CTLCV: David Bingham with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Louise Washer with the Environmental Leader Award, and Interreligious Eco-Justice Network for Organization of the Year.

The honorees represent a diverse array of environmental advocates, each with a unique and impactful contribution to Connecticut's conservation efforts. Their dedication serves as a testament to the importance of environmental stewardship in Connecticut.

The Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) is a nonpartisan, statewide, nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting Connecticut's environment by making it a priority for Connecticut's elected leaders.

As a legislative watchdog, CTLCV works with the state's environmental advocacy groups to identify and highlight important bills impacting air, water, wildlife, open space, and health.
