Hi all,

Connecticut towns are receiving opioid settlement funding as a result of legal settlements with major pharmaceutical companies accused of fueling the opioid crisis through deceptive marketing and distribution practices. These funds are being allocated to support local efforts to address the Opioid crisis.

Madison has received a significant amount of these abatement funds and is working to evaluate the local effects of the opioid crisis while developing a plan to allocate the settlement funds in the most effective and appropriate manner.

As a part of the community assessment, residents and community stakeholders are invited to take a short online survey. There are two versions of the survey:
  • The Community Members Survey is intended for Madison residents and business owners. Survey respondents do not necessarily have to have direct experience with Opioid abuse in order to submit a survey.
  • The Stakeholders survey is intended for the people that work in the Madison community and professionally address Opioid abuse, such as public health officials, government leaders, municipal department heads, mental health providers, first responders, physicians, pharmacists, etc.

Combating the opioid epidemic is a very important issue to me, and I've worked hard to pass meaningful legislation and collaborate with legislators from across the country to help our residents.

Far too many residents in our district, our state, and our country have been impacted by this addictive drug, and I'm particularly grateful that our town partners are doing this survey so we can put this money to best use.

The survey will close on January 13th, so I encourage you all to take their survey and share your thoughts!  Please contact Justin at zeiglerj@madisonct.org with any questions.

Sincerely,

John-Michael Parker
State Representative
